Raihan Ali Merchant

Raihan Merchant, founding chairman of MHL, is a trailblazer in the field of media and advertising in South Asia. Also founder of one of the most significant media agency groups in South Asia (and beyond), he is a consummate entrepreneur with a rich understanding of the needs of advertisers, media-owners and agencies. In 2011, the government of Pakistan awarded him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence), recognizing his pioneering contributions to the advertising industry of Pakistan.

Raihan has also made groundbreaking contributions to the Arts and Education in the region. His patronage of public theater in Pakistan has led to this art-form going mainstream, resulting in a spate of new jobs and a creative outlet for the youth. He has also initiated Project Butterfly with Tony Buzan, a first-of-its-kind endeavor introducing Mindmapping as an educational tool.
